Trenton is the capital city of New Jersey and is the county seat of Mercer County. It also briefly served as the capital of the United States in 1784. It has a population of roughly 83,412 (2019), which makes it the 10th largest municipality. Trenton dates back to June of 1719 with boundaries recorded for the township in March of 1720. The earliest inhabitants of the area were the Lenape Native Americans. The town first was listed as “Trent-towne” after William Trent, one of the leading landholders, and was later shortened to “Trenton”.

Trenton Thunder Baseball – From its inception in 1980 to 2020, it was a minor league baseball team for teams such as the Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and most recently the New York Yankees. They are now a collegiate summer baseball team of the MLB Draft League.

Trenton Public Schools – A comprehensive community public school district, serving students from Pre-K all the way through twelfth grade. The district is comprised of 13 elementary schools, 4 middle schools and 3 high schools.

Trenton Free Public Library – The oldest library in the state of New Jersey founded in 1750 by Dr. Thomas Cadwalader. Benjamin Franklin is rumored to have purchased the first 50 books in the library. In 1900 it became incorporated as a free public library.
