Sewell is an unincorporated community within Mantua Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey and it has a population of roughly 37,433.  It was named after the United State Senator William Joyce Sewell.  The location is known for its paleontology.  It is also home to the Inversand marl pit, which is the last operational greensand mine in the world.
